May 6 presidential search committee update

The Presidential Search Committee held its organizational meeting on Friday, May 3. The Committee reviewed its charge from the Board of Trustees and adopted a schedule and timetable for the search. The Committee also spent time discussing the search profile, which will guide the search and includes a statement of the leadership opportunities offered by the University, as well as the leadership qualities and experiences that will describe the successful candidate for the presidency.

The days immediately ahead will be focused on completing and approving the search profile.

As we do, we will be relying in an important way on the input provided by all of you who attended the listening sessions we hosted in early February as well those undertaken by our Association of Governing Boards (AGB) Search consultants, Shannon McCambridge and Loren Anderson on May 2. We are grateful for your engagement with us as we undertake this very important search.

The search will officially launch the week of June 3, and the remaining weeks of the summer and early fall will focus on building the candidate pool. The Search Committee has set Friday, October 11 as our full consideration deadline for applications. The Committee expects to conduct a round of initial interviews before the winter break, and to invite finalists for campus interviews in early to mid-February.

The Search Committee will be strengthened by the involvement and support of the University community. When the search goes public in June, we hope that you will review the profile and forward the names of potential candidates to ÃÛѨÊÓƵPres@agbsearch.com or to our AGB Search consultants:  loren.anderson@agbsearch.com or shannon.mccambridge@agbsearch.com.

We will report to the campus community again following future Committee meetings. We thank you in advance for your support and your engagement in this important process.
