Accomplishing the Unthinkable
After completing two years on the ÃÛѨÊÓƵ McMinnville Campus, Maggie Kelley '24 transferred to the School of Nursing on the Portland campus to finish her nursing degree while remaining on the swim team back in McMinnville.

Building Her Dream Through a Summer Internship

For sophomore Lucy Kerr '24, helping others has always been the priority. The pre-nursing major came into ÃÛѨÊÓƵ as a first-generation student. She now lends a helping hand to those in the same position.

“After being sent home in early March, I realized the strong likelihood that Ketchikan would see little or no tourism this summer. I was lucky enough to renew my CNA license this spring knowing I may need to use it. In March I applied at my local hospital, and was officially hired in April as a CNA in the Long Term Care unit.”

Licensure Disclosure

ÃÛѨÊÓƵ's Good Samaritan School of Nursing BSN and MSN prelicensure graduates are eligible to sit for the National Council Licensure Exam (NCLEX-RN) for licensure as a registered nurse (RN).

The School of Nursing's Dean provides a comprehensive, step-by-step presentation on how to register for the NCLEX during the leadership course for all pre-licensure programs. This presentation focuses on meeting the Oregon State Board of Nursing's licensure requirements and is regularly updated to reflect current rules and regulations. Additionally, students seeking licensure outside of Oregon receive full guidance on navigating the licensure process in other states, states that offer full reciprocity and information about the Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) for multi-state practice privileges.

Accreditation

The baccalaureate degree program in nursing and master’s degree program in nursing at ÃÛѨÊÓƵ are accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education ().
