Getting Started

Upon acceptance of your admission to your ÃÛѨÊÓƵ School of Nursing program, you will be prompted by Admissions to open your Complio account. You must complete your requirements in Complio by your deadline given by Admissions to be considered eligible to participate in your Orientation Day to begin your nursing program.

Upon creation of your Complio account, you will need to purchase the Immunization Tracking Subscription ($35). During this time, you will be able to add yourself to your User Group (aka your cohort). Please be diligent in completing your compliance requirements.

You will not be able to purchase the Drug Screen & Background Check package ($85) until 90 days prior to the start date of your program (aka Orientation Day). Admissions will communicate to you via text message what your required code is to be able to order this package when the time comes. Keep an eye out on your text messages for this code. Upon purchase of this package, your Background Check will be automatically pulled, with results uploaded to your Complio account. For questions regarding your drug screening, please email ds@americandatabank.com.

Please refer to the Student Compliance Success Guide for more information on how to complete your compliance requirements by your deadline.

Immunizations

Students attending ÃÛѨÊÓƵ’s School of Nursing programs will experience patient-facing practicum that will expose them to many communicable diseases. To protect our students from the possibility of contracting a disease from a clinical environment, we ask that incoming students provide proof of immunity to the following pathogens:

  • MMR
  • Varicella
  • Hepatitis B
  • Tuberculosis
  • Tetanus, Diphtheria, and Pertussis (TDaP/DTaP)
  • Influenza
  • COVID-19

McMinnville transfer students to the Portland campus may utilize the in Walker Hall to help fulfill some compliance requirements. Please note that availabilities are by appointment only.

Documentation Requirements

All incoming students are responsible for curating and providing documentation with full student details to upload to their profile in Complio. You may need to contact your primary care physician clinics to access your records.

The following is a list of acceptable forms of documentation:

  • Lab Reports
  • Clinical Records
  • Employee or Military Medical Records
  • School Records
  • State Alert System Reports
  • Immunization Cards or Provider Letters

Prior to assigning your documents, verify that EVERY document includes the following information and are clearly displayed in the uploaded image:

  • Full Legal Name—this will need to match the name in your Complio profile; partial names or first name only appearing on the uploaded image will not be approved by Complio.
  • Date of Birth—must match your DOB in your Complio profile
  • Test Name—an incorrectly-ordered test is subject to rejection
  • Test Result—“immune” or “not immune”; numerical values will not be accepted.
  • Test Date—a date needs to accompany either the order date or the read result date.
  • Test Facility or Clinic Name—can be anything from a letterhead logo to clinic stamp with clinic information clearly displayed. No handwritten addendums to physical paperwork will be accepted.
  • Provider or Clinic Acknowledgement—A physician signature or clinic stamp is needed on the documentation to notate that you were seen at this location.

You will need to scan the document for upload to your computer or take pictures of your documentation to upload to Complio. Ensure that your images are not blurry prior to upload. Please name your documentation for easier navigation for Complio approvers. Documentation that does not meet these requirements may result in rejection from Complio. Keep an eye out in your inbox for any emails from Complio regarding your submission status.

Uploading to Complio

It is the student’s responsibility to reach compliant status by the assigned deadline. Failure to do so may cause your eligibility to participate in clinical and simulation courses.

Once your documentation is approved, you will need to keep a health passport on your person when you are out at clinical sites.

BLS Training Resources

Ensure that your BLS Certification Training is done at a facility that offers training that follows the American Heart Association guidelines. All other certificates will be denied in Complio! Below are a few training centers that are affiliated with ÃÛѨÊÓƵ to offer you a discounted rate for training and certification:

Cascade BLS Discount Flyer - Please click "I do NOT have a voucher" during checkout for the discounted price to be applied.

PACWEST Training Center - Training done by a ÃÛѨÊÓƵ School of Nursing graduate

Drug Screening

Incoming nursing students must undergo a TEN (10) panel drug screen within 90 days before the start of their program. The 10-panel drug screen includes testing for the presence of at least the following substances:

  1. Amphetamines (including methamphetamines)
  2. Barbiturates
  3. Benzodiazepines
  4. Cocaine
  5. Marijuana
  6. Methadone
  7. Opiates
  8. Phencyclidine

While ÃÛѨÊÓƵ School of Nursing understands that marijuana is legalized for recreational use, the Oregon Health Authority, as well as our federally-funded clinical partners, have determined that all students in health professional programs must show clear drug screen results.

During checkout of purchasing this package, you will be asked to select a lab testing location in which you will provide your drug screen sample. Please choose a location that you can easily get to.

Most lab testing facilities will be available by appointment only. In the case that you do not find availability at the testing location that you selected, you may email ds@americandatabank.com to choose a new location. Students may be subject to additional fees for this change in venue.

Avoid drinking excessive liquids (12+ fluid ounces) 3-4 hours prior to your appointment, as a "Negative Dilute" result will require you to repurchase and redo your drug screen. After you have submitted your drug screen sample, your results will be automatically uploaded to Complio.

If you have prescription medications that show up in the results (i.e. amphetamines), please email schoolofnursing@linfield.edu to provide documentation of said prescriptions.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Where should I start?

Your first step should be to gather documentation of proof for the following categories:

    • MMR
    • Varicella
    • Hepatitis B
    • Tuberculosis
    • Tetanus, Diphtheria, and Pertussis (TDaP/DTaP)
    • BLS Certification from the American Heart Association
    • Health Insurance
    • COVID-19
  • What if I don't have some of these documents?

Reach out to your primary care physician to get your record of past immunizations. If there are certain vaccinations that you’re missing from this list, schedule to receive those as soon as possible. There are certain requirements that will require further testing of immunization with the possibility of needing additional boosters, which will require extra time from you. Therefore, WE ASK YOU TO START THIS PROCESS AS URGENTLY AS POSSIBLE. You may also request your Immunization Records from your .

Health insurance is compulsory as a student attending ÃÛѨÊÓƵ. If you do not currently have health insurance you will be offered to purchase health insurance through ÃÛѨÊÓƵ during your tenure in your program.

The BLS Certification is a course on basic life support and includes training on AED and CPR. If you do not currently have a valid certification granted by the American Heart Association, ÃÛѨÊÓƵ has partnered with a training center to allow you to take the course at a discounted rate.

  • Where can I get all my outstanding immunizations and lab work taken care of?

Most immunization requirements can be completed at any healthcare facility, such as your primary . You may want to consider location and insurance.

Drug screenings must be completed at a pre-authorized collection site, selected at time of your Complio account order. Background check results will be automatically uploaded to Complio when completed.

  • Can I apply for exceptions from any vaccinations or immunizations?

Students who are medically unable to receive a vaccination may apply for an exception for that category in Complio. Otherwise, the School of Nursing recommends that students are fully vaccinated or can prove immunity to each requirement.

ÃÛѨÊÓƵ School of Nursing students will be placed in clinical sites that encounter real patients seeking care. Therefore, you must prove that you are immune to certain communicable illnesses. Clinical sites reserve the right to disallow or deny a student’s clinical rotation due to noncompliance.

  • What if I know that I am immune to something but cannot find the documentation to prove my vaccinations?

Students who are unable to provide documentation proving their immunization history may request titers for each required category that they do not have documentation for. These blood tests may be covered by your health insurance, but there is always a chance you will have to pay out of pocket.

A negative result titer shows that you are immune. In the case of your titer returning with a positive result, you will need to receive subsequent vaccinations according to the guidelines laid out in Complio.

Current McMinnville ÃÛѨÊÓƵ students may utilize the  in Walker Hall to receive select vaccinations and health assessments. Please note that the Health Center is available by appointment only and closed on weekends, scheduled school holidays, and over the summer.

  • What if my titer comes back "Not Immune"?

Your next course of action would be to receive a vaccination or booster, depending on what is applicable.

You may submit proof of vaccination or booster after a negative titer to Complio. Depending on the dosage series required for you to meet your compliance requirements, Complio will grant you a window of compliance to allow you to finish out your prescribed booster series.

  • I submitted a negative PPD that I got through work or another school program. Why am I not compliant for Tuberculosis?

To meet your requirements for Tuberculosis using the PPD pathway, you must submit TWO (2) PPD subdermal tests in which the implant-and-read dates are within 7-21 days of each other.

This means that the result of this negative PPD does not meet the requirements for compliance.

  • What about COVID-19 exemptions?

  • What happens if my background check gets flagged?

A flagged background check may affect your ability to obtain licensure after completing your program. In the case that your background check returns with a flag, you will meet with the Dean to decide your next steps.

The School of Nursing will receive notification of flagged background checks. As such, the Dean's Office will reach out to you to schedule a meeting with the Dean. Please wait for us to contact you.

  • Why did my drug screening get flagged? My test should be clean.

You will be performing a urine sample for your drug screening. We will get a flagged drug screening from students whose samples are too diluted. This results in a “Negative Dilute” result. You will have to reorder and purchase another Drug Screening in Complio.

STUDENT TIP: Avoid drinking excessive amounts of liquids (more than 12oz) 3-4 hours before specimen collection.

  • I'm no longer able to do my screening at the lab I originally picked. How do I request a new location?

Please keep note that you will be choosing your lab collection site at the time you purchase your background check and drug screening package, so please plan to be able to attend that location. If you are unable to do your sample collection at the location you initially chose, reach out to ds@americandatabank.com or call 1.800.200.0853. Complio will need to facilitate your changing of locations, with a possibility that you might be subject to paying an additional fee to switch locations.
  • How do I order a new drug screen?

In the case that your drug test failed due to a “Negative Dilute” flag, a representative from the School of Nursing will send you information on how to order a new drug screen.

  • What is a health passport, and how do I print it?

In addition to maintaining your compliant status in the American Databank Complio online platform, you must carry a paper compliance report behind your ÃÛѨÊÓƵ badge. You are expected to reprint an updated Health Passport with any compliance status changes. Compliance and additional audits can be run at any clinical site anytime. Failure to meet criteria can result in warnings or fines, which reflects your level of professionalism as well as the standards of our nursing program.

To view and print your Health Passport:

    1. Log into your Complio account
    2. Select the "Report" tab on the left side of your profile
    3. Print this and store this behind your ÃÛѨÊÓƵ badge at all times
