GPA Waiver Policy
Some institution-sponsored programs or activities require participants to maintain a minimum grade point average. This policy explains how University staff can waive requirements for people who have experienced sexual misconduct. This policy has been established in compliance with ORS 350.344 and will be periodically reviewed and updated as necessary to ensure continued compliance with relevant laws and regulations. Any amendments to this policy will be communicated to all students, faculty, and staff.
The Title IX Coordinator will maintain all records of waivers and oversee the implementation of this policy and provide guidance as needed.
Criteria for Waivers
Waivers may be granted when a person has experienced sexual misconduct while enrolled at the University and has received approval from any of the following staff:
- The Title IX Coordinator
- Survivor Advocate employed by the University
- Director of Student Care & Support
Confidentiality
For individuals who have experienced sexual misconduct and requested an academic waiver pursuant to the standards identified in this policy, the University will maintain confidentiality of all the materials that contain personally identifiable information for such requests consistent with the application of the Federal Educational Rights Act (FERPA).
Procedures for Waivers
Students seeking a waiver must submit an “Exception to Policy Petition” to any of the named staff providing supporting documentation as required. The Title IX Coordinator will receive the petition and review the approved waivers and communicate the decision, including a rationale, to the student.

- A scholarship provided by the University
- Student employment and leadership opportunities (e.g.: Resident Assistant, Student Government, other student employment opportunities)

Programs that the University cannot maintain control over are not eligible for a waiver. Programs may include:
- NCAA National Eligibility Standards
