May 23 presidential search announcement

Presidential Search Committee update

The Presidential Search Committee held its second business meeting on Wednesday, May 22. The Committee reviewed a draft Presidential Profile consisting of four sections:  Institutional Profile, Position Summary, Desired Attributes of Leadership, and How to ÃÛѨÊÓƵ. Numerous thoughtful comments for improvement were provided by individual committee members, both orally and in writing. A penultimate draft of the Profile is now being drafted for circulating to members of the Board of Trustees. We remain on track to finalize the profile and launch the search on the Association of Governing Boards (AGB) website on June 3.

We next discussed details of the publicity campaign proposed by our AGB Consultants, Loren Anderson and Shannon McCambridge.  The plan includes advertising in national higher education publications, sending email blasts to executive officers in our sister institutions, and thoughts on energizing the ÃÛѨÊÓƵ network to help generate interest in the vacancy. You will be hearing more about how you can assist in this effort after June 3.  It will take a village to help us develop the strongest possible pool of applicants.

We next revisited our timeline and tentative schedule for future meetings. The only point of change from our last message to you was that we moved up the deadline for full consideration of applications from October 11 to October 4. We are in the process of firming up dates for the next stages: 1) review of applicants, 2) selection of and scheduling of Zoom interview dates for semi-finalists, and 3) on-campus interviews for finalists. We filled in many of the blanks, but the proposed dates still need to be compared to the fall and spring class calendars and the trustee meeting calendar before we make any further announcements.

This message keeps us on track with our pledge to brief you after each committee meeting. Wherever appropriate, we will add interim briefings on progress between meetings.
