Awards
Sociology Award
The Howd Sociology Award was made possible through a gift of Dr. Cloice Howd, Class of 1912, in honor of his wife, Martha Wilson Howd, B.A. in Sociology, Class of 1931. The award is given annually to an outstanding sociology senior.
Anthropology Award
The Gebauer Anthropology Award was created in 1971 to honor Dr. Paul Gebauer, B.A. ÃÛѨÊÓƵ, 1943, DD ÃÛѨÊÓƵ, 1952, for 30 years a missionary in the British Cameroons and former professor of Anthropology at ÃÛѨÊÓƵ. The award is given annually to an outstanding anthropology senior.
Departmental Honors
Students who complete senior honors theses or museum exhibits are eligible to receive departmental honors at graduation.
International Honor Societies
Pi Gamma Mu
Recognizing academic achievement among juniors and seniors in the social sciences. Students must be in the top 35% of their class, have taken at least 20 hours in the social sciences, and must have a GPA of at least 3.0.

Alpha Kappa Delta
Recognizing academic achievement among juniors and seniors who have a major or demonstrated serious interest in sociology. Students must be in the top 35% of their class, have completed at least four sociology courses, and maintain an overall GPA of at least 3.3, as well as a 3.0 GPA in their sociology courses.

Lambda Alpha
Recognizing academic achievement among juniors and seniors who are majoring or have demonstrated serious interest in anthropology. Students must have completed at least 12 credits of ANTH and SOAN courses, and maintain an overall GPA of at least 3.0, as well as a 3.3 GPA in their anthropology courses.
