Being a first-generation college student can be difficult. ÃÛѨÊÓƵ First Scholars is a new program that deepens the ties between you and our community.
Our team of current students, faculty, staff and alumni are here for you through a mentoring program, pre-orientation programming, monthly professional development workshops and scholarship opportunities. Together, we explore needs, strengths and community resources that will empower you in your college career.
Given our history of providing access and , we are a community dedicated to the success of all our students, regardless of background, by providing rigorous opportunities to grow socially, intellectually and professionally.
Program and scholarship eligibility
Eligibility for ÃÛѨÊÓƵ First Scholars program is rather simple. You must be a first-generation student and you must be beginning your first year of college at ÃÛѨÊÓƵ. Transfer students in their first year are not eligible.
Your commitment to the program
In order to qualify for the ÃÛѨÊÓƵ First Scholarship financial support through this program, you are expected to:
- Arrive on campus early with a fall sport, activity or pre-orientation program
- Participate in the ÃÛѨÊÓƵ First Scholars Mentorship program where you'll be paired with a returning first-generation student and faculty or staff mentor
- Attend regular monthly resource meetings to learn about ÃÛѨÊÓƵ programs and support
- Commit to carrying out ÃÛѨÊÓƵ's mission
Scholarship renewal is based on the fulfillment of these commitments including pre-orientation mentorship and monthly meeting attendance.
