ÃÛѨÊÓƵ is an increasingly popular choice for first-generation and global majority students to pursue their degrees. Vargas Corona is a shining example of this trend. She will speak about the importance of embracing and leveraging our personal experiences. Drawing on her background in a Mexican immigrant culture, she will emphasize the strong foundation it provided for her career in community-building. She will stress the significance of applying academic knowledge in the community and highlight the value of off-campus internships for students and the organizations they impact.

Presentation by 2024 Distinguished Alumnus of the Year, Lance Lopes '85

Leveraging his skills as a lawyer, Lopes has forged a career of firsts in the sports business that has spanned over 30 years across multiple teams and leagues. Starting as the first general counsel for the Green Bay Packers at just 30 years old, he rose to senior positions with the Packers, Seattle Seahawks, Seattle Sounders, Washington Huskies, and his current role with the Seattle Kraken. He was part of the original management team that started the Sounders, and he also was the first employee of the start-up that would become Stubhub. Lopes will speak on his journey from a two-stoplight town in rural Nevada to the boardrooms of the NFL, MLS and NHL.

Celebrate the Wildcat's 100th birthday

ÃÛѨÊÓƵ officially made the Wildcat our mascot in 1924. So, Mack is 100 this year. Join us for cake, to sing happy birthday, and to see pictures from the Wildcat’s past. Stop by the photo area on Streak Street to grab a picture with the Wildcat or to pick up a sticker or tattoo.
