Spanish Language and Culture

Spanish is the second most-spoken language in the United States and a means to communicating with more than 400 million people around the globe. As a Spanish major at ÃÛѨÊÓƵ, you will learn and interact with the cultural groups that speak Spanish within the U.S. and abroad while developing the critical intercultural skills necessary in our multicultural world. Develop long-lasting relationships and expand your outlook through study abroad in Spain, Chile or Ecuador.

Spanish Culture and Civilization

Examine the interplay of culture, religion and politics of the peoples of Spain from early beginnings to the present day. (GLSP 211)

Spanish for Bilingual and Heritage Learners

Learn about Latinx identity and acquire the formal Spanish needed for jobs where intercultural skills, translation and interpretation services are in high demand. (GLSP 290/291)

Topics in Spanish Literature

Engage with major literary works to reflect on current issues in the Spanish-speaking cultures of Latin America, Spain and the Hispanic Caribbean. Taught in Spanish. (GLSP 350)
